Practice Sheets, Playing Tests, Extra Credit - The Nitty Gritty

posted Oct 10, 2012, 1:45 PM by Andrea Feige   [ updated Oct 10, 2012, 1:45 PM ]
Hello everyone!

The school year definitely got off to a quick start and now I feel like I can finally catch my breath.  After giving it much thought, I have decided to make a move away from required practice sheets every week. I fear that practice sheets put more emphasis on quantity of practice and not the quality of practice. Thus, I am initiating playing tests every other week. The students will find out at the end of one playing test what is going to be covered on the next playing test. My goal, in doing this, is to encourage students to put effort forth in their practice and really make strides towards improving.  The rubric with which the students will be graded for their playing tests is attached.

I have also offered the 6-8th grade bands extra credit. I have attached the same sheet I gave them in class to this post.  They are to write the essays in 12pt, Times New Roman font, double space.

As always, if there are any questions/concerns, please contact me.  If I don't hear anything, I assume all is well! (Which is what I absolutely hope!)

Best,
Miss Feige
