During the next week the third graders will be reviewing the concepts they have learned in communication arts for the past four weeks.  These are some of the skills we will be reviewing:
Phonics Skills: vowel variants, prefixes, and the schwa.
Focus Skills: Sequence, Author's Message, and Cause and Effect
Vocabulary Words: require, functional, inhabitant, amazement, ample, responsibility, futuristic, realistic, confused, and shifting
Grammar Skills: the verb be, main and helping verbs, present, past and future verbs

We will assess these skills by taking a theme test at the end of the week.  This is a pretty tough test, so ask your third grader how he or she did on the test.  In math we will are exploring different methods to multiply larger numbers.  At the end of the week we will be multiplying two digit numbers time two digit numbers.  We are also going to be working on positive and negative numbers.

In science we will be wrapping up our unit on simple machines.  The last simple machine we have to study is the pulley.  After this we will review and on Thursday night your child should study their notes, because we will be having a test on Friday.

Congratulations on our new room representatives Travis and Felicity!!!
