12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The Monforton School District’s annual election will have small levy requests on the ballot this year.  This year’s requests are for a one-year-only building reserve levy and a general operating fund levy.

The general fund levy is to finance additional teaching staff in the elementary and middle schools due to enrollment growth.  The $61,500 levy will result in a tax increase of approximately $19 per year on a home with a resale value of $250,000.

The one-year-only building reserve levy is for site and facility planning due to our increasing enrollment and community growth.  Decent accessibility and student safety are school board priorities as we plan for the next phase of growth.  The district will continue its work with Comma-Q Architecture Inc.  The cost of the $60,000 levy will result in a tax increase of approximately $18.58 for one-year-only on a home with a resale value of $250,000.

Also on the ballot are two open trustee position.  Incumbents Trustee Kelly Ripley and Trustee Erin Cooper have filed to run.  The deadline for filing is March 29th.

The Monforton School District continues to increase students at the rate of approximately 6% per year.  If you are not a registered voter in the Monforton School District, please call or e-mail and we will get a voter registration (or transfer of address) card to you.  The deadline for voter registration is Monday, April 9th.

The Board of Trustees will hold an informational meeting in April, time to be announced.  For further information, please call or e-mail Kris Ortmeier (kortmeier@monfortonschool.org, Lynne Scalia (lscalia@monfortonschool.org) or the front office at the school.

Please visit the Gallatin County Property Tax web site to see the Net Taxable value of your home.  Multiply the current taxable value by .00603 to see the total increase in
property tax/year for the general fund.  For example: a 250K home has a Net Taxable value of 3,160 x .00603 = $19.05 per year/$1.58 per month/$.05 per day
